Hi there! I’m Monica Danielle.
My journey to healing started in 2014 when I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis: a chronic inflammation disorder of the colon. Weight loss, hospital visits, and daily medication became my new normal. What followed was depression and hopelessness.
In 2020, my doctor wanted to put me on a very serious medication. I had a lot of questions that went unanswered, and I rejected the advice. I decided to take an alternative path to healing: no more eating foods that disagreed with my body. A whole-food, plant & seafood based anti-inflammatory diet is what I committed to. I started exercising, increased my prayer time, practiced self-care and removed as much stress from my life as I could.
And this helped: some symptoms were decreased, my energy levels improved as well as my outlook on life. But it was not the cure. I did everything in my power to improve my condition, but I continued to have flare ups of the disease.
What I know now, and wholeheartedly believe, is that God uses everything He created to bring healing to our lives. He uses relationships to bring healing. He uses medication to bring healing. He uses herbs & plants, water & air. He uses moments, experiences, words, and opportunities to bring healing. And no one knows how all of these things will work together to bring about our individual healing better than God Himself.
The path to emotional, physical, and spiritual healing lies in a close relationship with God. If you are looking for healing, draw closer to your Father. He has the cure.
I wish I could say that I am completed healed of Ulcerative Colitis. I am not. I am still on a continuous journey to healing. But what I can say is that I have learned how to have a full, abundant life in the midst of suffering. And for this reason, I consider myself healed, girl!
